Privacy Counsel

Job Overview

We are looking for a business-oriented Privacy Counsel who has the experience to tackle complex privacy and data protection issues across different markets and business functions. In this role, you will be assisting our business in navigating the legal and regulatory privacy and data protection landscape and lead efforts to develop international standards.

Reports to

The Privacy Counsel reports to the Data Protection Officer based in Nicosia, Cyprus. 

What will you do?

  • You will be part of the global privacy team, supporting our global privacy compliance program and the continuing development of a privacy governance framework, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensuring that our products and services align and comply with the privacy and data protection requirements across all markets.
  • Advising the business on how to embed / integrate privacy and data protection into its activities and operations from the design stage right through the lifecycle.
  • Drafting and negotiating data protection agreements and other data protection provisions in IT/Commercial-related agreements.
  • Writing and updating policies and operating procedures.
  • Managing and handling data subject rights requests, data inventories, and risks assessments in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Carrying out a DPIA, LIA, TIA, and other assessments where necessary and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Developing and delivering privacy and data protection training and awareness throughout the organisation.
  • An active team member contributing to the continuous development of our global privacy strategy.
  • Keeping the business stakeholders up to date on the latest technological and privacy developments.
  • Monitoring and responding to new legal and regulatory developments impacting our business operations globally.

What are we looking for?

  • Hands-on experience of addressing complex privacy issues, with a minimum 3 years of PQE.
  • Ability to take ownership and manage a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience interacting with the data protection regulators.
  • Good drafting skills and experience in writing policies and operating procedures.
  • Experience engaging with cross-functional business stakeholders and providing timely and practical responses.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized, proactive, collaborative team player, with strong attention to detail.
  • A desire to build strong relationships and become a trusted counsel to the business teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Experience working in the games industry or any other tech company with an international presence.
  • A data protection qualification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT).
