We are looking for a pragmatic, tech-savvy Privacy Counsel to join our international Legal team. You will work collaboratively on exciting projects in the vibrant digital advertising space and be a key contributor to our privacy program.  You will hone in your expertise on a wide range of product development, data processing agreements, regulatory compliance and data privacy matters, and help shape how our innovative company navigates privacy and data protection landscapes worldwide.  

The Impact You Will Have:

  • Refine and scale all aspects of our privacy program and processes involving cross-functional teams domestically and internationally.
  • Coordinate and drive cross-stakeholder alignment regarding data privacy and data protection on all matters related to ad tech and data privacy laws. 
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and marketing teams to provide actionable advice to minimize legal risks while advancing business goals and objectives during all stages of product development.
  • Conduct privacy reviews of new products, tools, and initiatives. 
  • Streamline, evaluate, and negotiate data protection terms in contracts, data processing agreements, and related materials.
  • Draft and review product integration documentation, notices, policies, and compliance-related documentation. 
  • Monitor and digest developments in privacy and data protection laws and regulations, key judgments, and regulatory guidance to help determine impact for the business and set risk tolerance approach. 
  • Contribute to furthering the status of the Legal department as an effective and valued resource within the company.

What We Look For:

  • Minimum 5 years of combined privacy law experience, at a top law firm and in-house at a tech company. 
  • Familiarity with legal issues impacting the digital advertising industry including global privacy laws & regulations, privacy and data governance issues and legislation, self-regulatory guidelines, and consumer protection.
  • Product counseling background, including experience with issue spotting and advising across various privacy-related topics.
  • Experience with PIAs / DPIAs and risk assessments. 
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating data processing agreements.
  • Ability to boil complex issues down to the bottom line and provide pragmatic advice that can be operationalized.
  • Strong analytical capability, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to build consensus and drive projects to completion.
  • Sound business judgment, adaptability, and demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues quickly and effectively. 
  • Experience in adtech, CTV, and mobile apps is a strong plus.
  • Sense of humor and high level of professionalism. 
  • Licensed to practice law in applicable jurisdictions (U.S. and/or E.U.)
  • IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional credentials preferred.
