We’re seeking a Principal Software Architect to join an architecture team involved in developing state of the art enterprise software that spans embedded, the edge and the cloud. This software platform will drive micro fulfillment centers for the largest grocery retailer in the world.
You will play a critical role in the architecture, design and implementation on different systems and various cross-cutting concerns.
This position requires excellent technical and analytical skillset. The role is a multi-functional role that requires alignment building, coding, root cause analysis, mentoring and communication within a engineering organization.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:
- Define API’s/contracts to be used by large retailers that are customer agnostic, but rich enough to support variance in requirements.
- Implement foundational services to be used across functional components.
- Jump into critical technical issues and provide guidance and recommendations.
- Design micro-services using cloud-based middleware and strategies.
- Architect the software eco-system utilizing concepts from the Reactive Manifesto
- Provide technical leadership to software engineering team to define scalable, high availability, reusable, and secure micro-services.
- Lead code reviews, design reviews, architecture discussions.
- Define rationale for architectural decisions and ensure architectural congruence across all services.
- Drive software architecture discipline and principles into the organization; Mentor other members of the team.
- Partner with leadership and stakeholders to identify barriers to execution and opportunities for technology innovation.
- Stay current on architectural and technology trends that enable or enhance system capabilities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in hands-on development and application design in the delivery of software products
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an architect role in previous large-scale software development projects, preferably in a hybrid environment, edge and cloud.
- Deep knowledge of designing a reactive based system, preferrable with telemetry data.
- Excellent knowledge of software development methodologies and processes.
- Excellent knowledge in microservice architecture and related designs.
- Experience with highly scalable middleware services, both on premise and in cloud.
- Track record that includes the design and release of high-quality, high-performance enterprise software products/applications.
- Experience in automated build pipelines and tools.
- Knowledge of bot routing and tasking algorithms would be great to have.
- 5+ years using any of the following technologies: Java, SpringBoot, Kafka, Kubernetes, Akka, C#.
- Enjoys asking questions to get to the root of a problem to gain a deeper understanding of the needs/problems of the end-user.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative team environment.
- S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area.
