Schrödinger is hiring a

Principal Scientist / Senior Principal Scientist - In-Vitro Biologist, Hyderabad

Hyderabad, India

Schrödinger’s mission is to revolutionize drug discovery through the use of breakthrough computational methods.  We are currently looking for outstanding individuals to join our drug discovery group and contribute to our rapidly expanding portfolio of drug discovery collaborations.

Our drug discovery group of around 100 scientists includes designers, modelers, computational chemists, medicinal chemists, crystallographers, biochemists, and biologists with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers as well as a large scale computing infrastructure. Four of the programs we’ve worked on in the past 7 years have progressed into the clinic; two are still progressing through trials and two have been approved by the FDA.

We are looking for a highly motivated in vitro biologist to join our team of scientists to advance drug discovery projects driven by cutting-edge computational methods in structure-based drug discovery. The ideal  candidate will be an expert in in-vitro biology with hands-on experience in the planning and execution of biochemical, and cell based assays to aid drug discovery programs. This role will be a part of the Schrodinger Therapeutics Group (STG) in Hyderabad.

What you will do:

  • Be an integral part of the in vitro pharmacology team in the Schrodinger Therapeutics Group (STG) and a key liaison between STG in vitro biology and Sai Schrodinger Research Laboratories (SSRL), (SSRL is our dedicated facility for integrated discovery work streams, including medicinal & synthetic chemistry, in vitro biology, and process chemistry).

  • Work as the in vitro pharmacology lead for STG programs and manage experimental design, implementation and execution of in vitro assays in support of drug discovery projects.

  • Provide in vitro pharmacology input to multiple program teams and help enable biochemical, biophysical and cell-based assay development for characterization and screening of NCEs.

  • Manage CRO relationships to support, guide, and troubleshoot biochemical, biophysical and cell-based experiments.

  • Work closely with the team at SSRL to build a top experimental in vitro biology team and oversee the execution of in vitro assay development and screening to support STG drug discovery programs.

  • Responsible for data review, analysis and interpretation of in vitro results, and troubleshooting issues related to drug discovery projects.

  • Provide updates to the in vitro pharmacology and program team on active programs.

What you should have:

  • Ph.D. with 3-5+ years relevant hands-on experience or M.S in biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology or related field with 8+ years relevant hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech space.

  • Experience managing a team of experimental in vitro biologists.

  • Expertise establishing and troubleshooting in vitro biochemical/biophysical assays. Hands-on experience in running functional and binding assays for compound screening (TR-FRET, ALPHALisa, Luminescence, Fluorescence based assays). Experience with biophysical methods such as SPR and NanoDSF is desirable.

  • Expertise establishing and troubleshooting cell-based assays (e.g. CTG/MTT assays, Western blot/ MSD assays, ELISA and FRET/BRET assays). Experience with in-cell westerns, HCS, and flow cytometry is desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other scientists and research associates to accomplish goals on tight timelines.

  • Experience in managing in vitro pharmacology experiments in multiple drug discovery programs.

  • Demonstrated contributions to R&D efforts that have led to the development of clinical candidates.
