Officer, Program Implementation (Temporary Placement)

Position Background and Description

We are building a candidate database of temporary field officers who can be engaged at a short notice and for a time period ranging from 5 to 30 days depending on the program tasks to be performed on demand.

The this position is primarily a field-based position which plays an important role as an interface between DSW and communities in delivering the chlorine dispenser safe water intervention to the target communities. The Field Officer reports to the Associate Area Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field execution of dispenser related activities e.g. Lead community leaders meetings and local Government sensitization meetings, Water Point Nominations/verification, Chlorine delivery and service, field surveys administration on non-dispenser installations days
  • Mobilize stakeholders for meetings such as Sensitization meetings, Water point Education meetings and other related community buy-in and adoption meetings with high attendance at Village level.
  • Facilitate meetings mobilized at the Community level following the accepted protocols to achieve expected Key Performance Indicators.
  • Conduct awareness campaign follow ups with communities and re-sensitize them on program related best practices.
  • Carry out adoption promotional activities in communities.
  • Work with H.S.As, promoters and other community stakeholders for the successful installations of chlorine dispensers, high usage and ownership of the Dispensers for Safe Water Program.
  • Mentor Promoters to carry out weekly promotional activities in their communities and water points.
  • Track chlorine refills both at the Health Facility storage facilities and to promoters in their villages.
  • Perform efficient chlorine dispensers’ maintenance during various field activities.
  • Effective use of available technology to track chlorine refills, field activities for reporting and maintenance upgrade purposes.
  • Participate in H.S.As meetings for program updates and feedback on program performance in a Health Centre catchment area.
  • Provide evidence-based activities weekly report to the immediate Supervisor.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Associate Area Coordinator from time to time.

  • Good communication skills. Ability to communicate well within the organization and with the rural communities and local leaders
  • Basic leadership skills in managing people ,working with communities and teams
  • Good computer skills and comfort to advance the skills in a dynamic IT field.
  • Proactive and ambitious to support innovation and change in a dynamic working environment
  • Attitude. Positive attitude to work and to develop in a fast paced work environmen

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Management, Community work, Project management or equivalent.
  • Be able to use some data collection tools such as Survey CTO.
  • Good language skills in English, Chichewa and both spoken and written. Proficiency in speaking other local language/dialect is a definite advantage
  • Flexible mindset and willingness to work in our expansion Districts.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with communities or social enterprises/NGOs will be desirable
