North America Regional Channel Marketing Director

About the Position

WatchGuard Technologies is looking for an innovative, strategic, and passionate Regional Director of North America Partner Marketing who will be responsible for successfully leading the company’s North America Partner marketing organization. Our top candidate will have the talent and passion for continuing to drive our great channel partner ecosystem by creating, delivering, and executing integrated marketing programs that lead to quality pipeline, partner recruitment and partner growth. As part of the Revenue Marketing Team at WatchGuard, this candidate will lead a talented team and play a critical role on the marketing team and the broader GTM team. This individual will leverage their business and sales acumen, technology expertise, and strategic marketing skills to support the growth objectives of our partner team, driving adoption and usage of our products and services and improving new logo acquisition as well as overall customer and partner satisfaction, retention, and advocacy.

A Day in the Life

A day in the life of the Regional Director of North America Partner Marketing will likely start with checking in with various teams such as sales leadership, your counterparts in the other global regions or your direct team.  You will meet with the North America Sales leads to discuss and set priorities as well as discuss pipeline performance and opportunities for impact. You will discuss current budgets, ongoing projects and any challenges that are occurring with specific partners including the steps to resolution.  You will then assist and provide guidance to your team on any specific projects including building marketing plans, event strategy and planning, co-op budget recommendations, and thought leadership for our partners. You will meet and knowledge share with your counterparts in LATAM and EMEA on best practices and opportunities as well as chat with the other members of marketing leadership to discuss new tools and processes and collaborate on opportunities to optimize and mitigate challenges. You will hold regular team meeting to discuss team and company wide initiatives such as new tools available, OKR’s, and Health Metrics and to connect the dots on these initiatives and the teams’ daily tasks. You will meet with and work directly with top partners, as well as help your team build short and long-term engagement plans for top partners in their territories. You will close out your day working on some IC projects including building new processes and opportunities for improvement, budget management, sales enablement initiatives and setting your goals and actions for the next day.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage the North America region and direct reports. Create and implement an integrated marketing plan that starts with a clear view of priorities, an alignment with sales strategy and a solid understanding of the market trends within specific product lines and customer and partner market segments. 
  • Passion for developing deep relationships within our ecosystem and providing the best partner experience. Work collaboratively with our sales teams, channel partners, and distributors to develop and deliver innovative, end-user marketing programs that generate demand for our partners and ultimately result in new logo acquisition. Publish and monitor results, learnings and best practices with key stakeholders and partner, as well as adjust plans and priorities to stay focused and efficient. 
  • Deliver innovative, partner acquisition marketing programs that drive awareness, new partner engagements, and deliver new partner to our ecosystem. Work with our sales and ABX teams to build and execute strategic ABX plans to assist in growth and accelerate pipeline from key target accounts.
  • Introduce new processes, cutting edge marketing trends, and best practices to evangelize with our partners as thought leadership as well as implement at WatchGuard to help scale the business.
  • Translate the overall annual marketing plan and goals into actionable quarterly targets, goals, initiatives, and metrics for the region as well as advocate for new company and marketing org practices, processes, and tools.
  • In partnership with strategic events team, execute offline and online event strategy that meets corporate and field objectives e. g. leads to Sales, awareness, advance major accounts, Industry/trade/User group, company, and partner events.
  • Maintain an overarching marketing plan the encapsulates the teams to and thru partner marketing activities including a 90-day rolling calendar of integrated activities and events
  • Work with the greater marketing team to arm sales teams and partners with tailored content support to leverage in customer and partner outreach and engagement.
  • Work with Chanel/Field Marketing and Sales Management to reach agreement on budget for the year, quarterly program spending, and objectives. Manage the tracking, reporting, and forecasting of team spend. Follow and advocate for accounting practices and requirements to insure accurate and timely vendor management. 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with channel marketing with a deep understanding of channel and distribution.
  • Experience developing direct marketing, and demand generation programs, with in depth knowledge of on-line and email marketing. An understanding of Account Based Experience including experience partnering with sales on their account-based approach.
  • Experience building deep partner relationships including developing and implementing marketing plans that include measurements of success as well as experience with event planning and execution.
  • Concise and accurate budget management across the region; Including ownership, management and reporting of MDF/Coop spend and planning and reporting of marketing budget, accrual and expenditure.
  • Experience with building systems and processes to enable scale. 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high performing teams
  • Dynamic, results-oriented personality that works well with others and has the ability to drive projects forward amidst multiple shifting priorities and goals in a matrixed organization
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills as well as strong written and verbal communications. Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience using CRM systems, Salesforce.com preferred 
  • 10+ years of proven work experience with an ideal mix of marketing, strategic, technical and business background
  • BA/BS degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Able to travel up to 50% when required.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $145,000 – $175,000 USD, exclusive of benefits. This position is also eligible for an annual company bonus. Your base salary compensation will be based on your individual skills, education, and experience. Please keep in mind that the above range is the full base salary range for this role; hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical in order to allow for future salary growth.
