Network Engineering Lead (Linux) - East Coast of Aus

Our talented Data Center (DC) Team is looking for an enthusiastic System/Network Engineering Lead experienced in building/designing data center networks and Linux Virtual and Network attached storage Systems.

You will be given the opportunity to work as a Senior Network Lead in Squiz’s global DC team, you will assist with the design, implementation and daily operations of a worldwide private cloud network.

What you can expect in this role:

●Manage and extend existing oVirt/Proxmox-based KVM virtualisation infrastructure

● Manage dynamic OSPF/BGP routing and VXLAN/EVPN overlays

● Manage firewall policies and IPsec tunnels configuration

● Manage layer 2 switching

● Assist with development of new Platform capabilities.

● Automate systems and processes to help us build and manage our growing

infrastructure.

● Manage and maintain network-oriented file system MooseFS (CEPH like)

● Perform Linux, FreeBSD administration and scripting to improve our ability to manage and automate our cloud platform.

● Help to troubleshoot issues across the whole stack - hardware, software, network

and storage.

● Help document current and future configuration processes and policies

● Work with project teams and client teams located in the United States, Europe and

Australia

Required Skills:

● Experience in *NIX-based virtualisation (RHEV, oVirt) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) technologies

● Strong Linux Systems Administration skills

● Strong network experience including overlay technologies (EVPN/VXLAN), dynamic

routing protocols (BGP/OSPF) and layer 2 protocols (ARP/LACP).

● Experience with IPSEC & GRE tunnelling protocols

● Experience with anycast solutions and implementations

● Experience in an internet-facing, high up-time, technical environment

● Confident scripting ability in at least two of the following: Bash, PHP, Python, AWK

● Strong experience supporting PostgreSQL and MySQL

● Strong experience supporting BIND, Nginx/Openresty, Apache, Redis

● Familiarity with Ansible / Puppet/ Terraform / Saltstack configuration management

systems

● Experience with GIT and SVN version control systems

● Experience with Infrastructure as a Code approach

● Experience with monitoring systems, such as Nagios and Shinken, CollectD

● Experience collecting and aggregating log data (ELK Stack)

● Advanced knowledge of dual-stack IP networking (switching and routing)

● Able to perform physical data centre work where required (ie. cabling/equipment

installation)

You’ll work in a primarily *NIX based environment, and have the opportunity to not only challenge your technical skills as part of a global team of senior technical people but also to help our team grow. You will have a fantastic opportunity to help develop private cloud strategies and solutions as we embark on transforming our company into a true SaaS subscription based business. This could include redeveloping and understanding what is the best technology to invest in in our DCs and working with our SRE and Platform teams to introduce common standards to observability and code deployments.Our DC Team is part of our wider Product team so you will be exposed to roadmap development and key product strategies being developed by our talented product managers.
