Your mission

Are you ready to join a fast growing team intent on expansion?  As founding MLRO of Bitpanda’s business in Malta and one of the first people on the ground you’ll get to help shape the business from the very beginning.  Working closely with the Legal, Compliance and Growth teams, you will need to think globally and act locally, supporting Bitpanda through the license application process and setup of the business in Malta, through to the regulatory setup and ensuring best practice.

What you'll do

  • Developing and setting up control mechanisms for the early detection of money laundering and establishing control mechanisms for compliance with international sanctions.
  • Monitor internal compliance with international sanctions regulations and inform/train employees in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring developments in the field of money laundering (local and international) as well as investment and financial fraud and adapting the systems and preventive measures in operation accordingly.
  • Designing and defining the internal guidelines applicable in terms of the extended due diligence declaration/terrorism declaration and the relevant legal provisions and monitoring compliance with the same.
  • Identifying suspicious companies and persons in connection with money laundering (“intelligence system”) and determining risk-based measures about any existing business relationships with them.
  • Making recommendations and issuing instructions in the event of incidents relevant to money laundering and sanctions and act as a contact for authorities in connection with money laundering and sanctions.
  • Reports regularly and directly to the entire management (the entire board) on the most important incidents and activities in the field of money laundering prevention and sanctions.
Who you are
  • You have a legal, economic or regulatory background ideally with some experience within the financial industry.
  • You are familiar with core Compliance topics and have experience with the legal responsibility of a MLRO.
  • You are a team player, open-minded, organized, resilient, reliable, and committed.
