RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Partnership Development Manager at 84.51°, you are executing against the customer first plan for our Kroger Personal Finance (KPF) business lines as you leverage leading customer insights from Kroger, market insights, and human insights to makes customers’ lives easier. The customer’s voice influences every decision as you identify problems, develop solutions, activate insights and evaluate the impact on customers for Kroger.

Your primary client is Kroger’s KPF business, a consumer facing payment and financial service business within one of the world’s largest retailers and the third largest employer.  KPF serves as one of Kroger’s largest Alternative Profit engines as well as a core source for loyalty driving value creation for 1 out of every 5 shoppers at Kroger.

This role sits within the Innovation team for KPF whose vision is to feed the funnel for KPF innovation in a systematic and continuous way by identifying, assessing and establishing new businesses that are intended to drive Kroger loyalty and generate alternative profit, by solving a customer problem. 

While operating within Kroger and 84.51° systems, the team offers some unique experiences / responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Creativity – ability to identify new business development areas of KPF
  • High impact of work within small org design– KPF contributes a significant amount to Kroger profit
  • Connection to Kroger stakeholders – work alongside Kroger associates to evaluate and scope opportunities including contributing to financial models and technology requirements
  • Cross-Functional 84.51° collaboration – work with Consulting and Data Science resources

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with KPF leader(s) to help shape Kroger’s retail financial services and other services growth strategies
  • Work with the Strategic Partnerships team to determine the potential role of partner(s) to meet strategic objectives
  • Build business cases for potential opportunities including partnering on financial modeling exercises that support the business case used to secure the resources needed for an opportunity
  • Perform landscaping work, identifying trends and potential opportunities in the retail and services landscapes
  • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership and key stakeholders on opportunities pipeline

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment that is a little unorthodox at times and will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with 3+ years in retail, corporate development and strategy, corporate innovation, or management consulting
  • Succeeds in working independently, managing multiple projects, working under pressure, and adapting to sudden changes in the work environment
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and achieve goals through others including the diplomacy skills to manage collaborative workstreams across functions and internal teams
  • Experience identifying, evaluating, and analyzing new strategic business opportunities
  • Proven analytical and numerical aptitude; proficient in analyzing data for decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for resolution and results in complex situations
  • Collaborative approaches to decision-making with careful consideration to process, scale, and consistency
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Showcases strong verbal, written, presentation, and the ability to distill complex issues and detailed analysis
  • Quick learner on tools and processes and mix of analytic and commercial acumen
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
