Title: Linux Administrator
Location: Remote
Job Summary:
Rackner is looking for a Linux Administrator to join a team of DevOps and Cloud Engineers who are building out a registry of secure, hardened Docker containers, with the goal of increasing security of open source software used across enterprise and public customers. This U.S. Air Force cutting edge environment consists of Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, deployed in a large enterprise environment. The engineer should have experience in Linux system administration in Red Hat and Ubuntu (with the associated package systems), writing Dockerfiles, be comfortable learning the basics of a variety of software languages (Go, Python, Java, C++, .NET, Rust).
This role has the ability to transition into one with more of a focus on DevOps, Kubernetes, or Cloud Architecture as the engineer desires.
Essential Functions:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining Docker container hardening solutions
- Communicating these solutions in a professional way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborating with other engineers and members of the team using tools like git, in a secure, effective and scalable way
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Secret Clearance
Requisite Skills/Abilities:
- Highly experienced with linux system administration
- Experience with RedHat Linux and its package systems (yum, dnf, microdnf)
- Experience with Ubuntu and its package systems
- Familiar with security tools like OpenSCAP, Anchore, Twistlock, TruffleHog, SysDig or StackRox
- Familiar with Docker & Containers
- CompTIA+ certificate or equivalent
- Basic coding skills in Go, Python, Java, C++, .NET, Rust or a similar language are desirable, as well as an openness to learning the basics of new languages as needed
- Familiarity with DoD and concepts such as PKI infrastructure, STIGs, working in air-gapped environments, Cyber Security, FIPS, etc is nice to have
- General cloud architecture experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus, but not required
- General DevOps Experience a plus
- Kubernetes experience is a nice to have
- Software Engineering background is nice to have
