Our studio was founded in 2008 by several Treyarch veterans as The Workshop. For eight years, we built our reputation in the AAA console space working on hit titles such as Gears of War, XCom 2, Sorcery and The Evil Within.
In 2016, we joined forces with Skydance Media to form Skydance Interactive and set our sights on becoming the premiere studio in the burgeoning arena of Virtual Reality. Following the success of our first VR title Archangel, we elevated our ambition and tackled The Walking Dead universe in VR. The result was the 2018 genre-defining hit The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.
Skydance Interactive, developers of the hit game The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, is looking for a talented, organized, and motivated Level Designer. As a level designer, you will be responsible for developing levels and experiences that are engaging and rich in gameplay. Take your vision all the way from paper design to greybox and ultimately to completion. You will be working under our Lead Designer, and collaborate closely with the rest of the design team, as well as the wider development teams - Art, Audio and Engineering - to help produce an engaging and coherent gameplay experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and creation of specific levels of the game and bring them from a paper design to a polished playable level
- Plan and block out environmental layouts, level scripting, and object placement
- Collaborate with fellow designers, artists, programmers and audio to help make your vision come to life
- Work with the Lead Designer and iterate on your work based on feedback and reviews
- Address issues found by Quality Assurance
Requirements
- Experience working within game editors
- Extensive knowledge of level editing tools
- Able to accept criticism and collaborate respectfully with the team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to focus, self-task, and work without micro-management while adhering to schedules
Pluses
- Hands-on Unreal experience
- Experience with 3D modeling software
- Knowledge of JIRA or other task/bug tracking software
- Experience with Blueprint scripting
- Experience developing for VR platforms
The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $60,000 – $80,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors. The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.
