SUMMARY

Provides Outreach, Screening, Assessment, and Referral (OSAR) services to individuals 13 years old and up with substance use disorders in Collin County. OSAR will engage and collaborate with community resources to obtain referrals and provide substance use services throughout the community.  Screenings and Assessments will be completed to determine clinical eligibility and level of care recommendations. OSAR will work closely with Utilization Management to monitor the capacity for all levels of treatment along with managing the HHSC waitlist. OSAR will provide referrals to individuals in Collin County that need substance use services.  Travel into the community to complete Screenings/Assessments is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct screenings and assessments on individuals seeking substance use disorder services to determine clinical eligibility.
  • Ensure services provided meet the guidelines in accordance with the individual’s benefits plan.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to individuals by telephone and/or face-to-face.
  • Provide the following services as needed:

    • Motivational Interviewing
    • Crisis Intervention Services
    • Case Management to Support Continuum of Care
    • Referrals to Treatment and Other Support Services
    • Coordinate Treatment Waitlist
    • Follow-Up with Individuals on Waitlist and Provide Interim Services
  • Follow-up and document on all no-shows.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner on all services provided.
  • Ensure direct service time/productivity standards are being met.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of billed services.
  • Monitor, Track, and Follow-Up Capacity and Treatment Waitlist
  • Complete agency training on Trauma Informed Care and have a general understanding of trauma informed care per agency guidelines.
  • Complete all agency, BH Division, and license specific required training/continuing education in a timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the current version of the DSM diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder;
  • Experience providing screenings, assessments, crisis intervention services, case management, motivational interviewing, and referrals to treatment and other support services to adults and adolescents with substance use disorders;
  • Knowledge of the social services system and the ability to coordinate and connect individuals with appropriate services;
  • Ability to respond to individuals in crisis or stressful situations with compassion, patience, empathy, and understanding;
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks with limited supervision;
  • Ability to think clearly and logically in order to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations.
  • Ability to complete detailed, yet concise progress notes on all services provided;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate clearly and professionally to others;
  • Pays close attention to detail, manages time efficiently, is neat and organized, and proficient with computers and other office equipment;
  • Enjoys working in a team environment and gets along well with co-workers, other agency providers, and individuals;
  • Must fully understand and work through a trauma informed, person centered approach to service delivery;
  • Knowledge/experience with dual diagnosis individuals (MH and SUD) preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum:  Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with substance abuse coursework. Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree in substance use, psychology, social work, or counseling related field.
  • Required:  Current independent licensure in the State of Texas as an LCDC.
  • Two years of experience working in the field of substance use disorder treatment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Have a current Texas Driver License and a good driving record;
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal History and Driving Record check;
  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • Must be able to provide at least 3 professional or educational references. 

BENEFITS 

Salary: $45,000 per year    (Must be a fully licensed LCDC, no Interns. Hours will vary, typically 8am-5pm but may be flexible)                 

Shift:  Monday - Friday  8am - 5pm (locations may alternate between McKinney and Plano clinic)
