Your Role

This position is ideal for someone with a solid technical background, self-motivated and with a passion for technology and desire to learn, build and deliver high-value work within a small and agile ICT team. The position is fairly unique in that you will be the first person to join our Rwanda ICT, which offers you the opportunity to drive meaningful impact and establish foundational elements of the ICT function. Reporting to the Global Head of ICT, you will play a critical and highly visible role in providing IT strategic leadership and overseeing overall ICT planning and operations in Rwanda. You will drive engagements and projects from a technology perspective including the initial setup of our Rwanda IT Infrastructure. Overall, you will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day ICT needs for our Rwanda Operations.

What you will do

  • Align Global ICT with country realities to deliver IT services and ensure standards are applied consistently.
  • Own, manage and drive ICT operational excellence in Rwanda and ensure ICT needs are met.
  • Coordinate with the global ICT team to design and deploy the country's ICT infrastructure and applications
  • Consult with Global ICT to design and simplify the Information technology landscape in the country offices
  • Lead budget planning, monitoring of IT needs/purchases and ICT training in Rwanda. 
  • Support the design and Implementation of ICT strategy to support KOKO’s strategic goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate ICT programs in Rwanda and establish efficient and effective ICT systems
  • Align country ICT infrastructure with future business requirements and goals.
  • Develop and implement IT projects and plans in consultation with Rwanda country business units.
  • Ensure proper and timely planning and implementation of IT Infrastructure and services in country offices.
  • Ensure ICT systems are backed up as set out in the backup and recovery policies and procedures.
  • Ensure any outsourced IT services are maintained as per SLA and implemented as expected.
  • Liaison between ICT department and business departments in Rwanda CBU setup.
  • Maintain inventory of all hardware, software, and infrastructure equipment used in the country offices.
  • Responsible for hiring, performance evaluations, mentoring, and training of country ICT staff
  • Act as a local escalation contact for ICT related issues and provide subject matter expertise for common ICT compliance areas to the Rwanda country business units.
  • Drive adoption and implementation of ICT policies, standards, and incident handling processes.
  • Provide educational training for users on productivity tools and ICT best practices.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for ISPs, hardware, software, and other IT services.
  • Ensure the ongoing functionality and availability of all IT systems and services, including infrastructure, applications and services as aligned with service level agreements.
  • Optimise the use of IT productivity tools, software and hardware to improve efficiency of the organisation

What You Will Bring to KOKO

  • University degree in IT, Computer Science, management Information systems or relevant field
  • Minimum of 6 years progressive experience in a similar role in a fast-paced and fast-growing company with demonstrated track record of success in designing and implementing IT strategies.
  • General understanding and knowledge of Rwanda’s regulatory requirements, Information technology governance, and compliance and Information security standards and best practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing IT strategy, roadmaps, policies, procedures and standards 
  • Experience applying technology to solve complex business problems.
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills with a grasp of contemporary developments in ICT.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, leadership and decision making skills.
  • Creative and innovative team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly proficient with time management, organisational tools, and project management
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of earning trust and credibility with team members at all levels, able to break down complex information in a way that is easily understandable by others.
  • Expert problem-solving skills with a forward-thinking mindset, curiosity, and a relentless ability to see things through to completion.
  • Strong ability to work in partnership with stakeholders to identify IT requirements and facilitate the implementation of solutions to address them.
  • Experience in managing an IT service desk. ITIL or other standard IT operation certification is a plus
  • A natural curiosity and passion for technology, process oriented and obsessive over details.
  • Authorized to work in Rwanda.
