The Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished HR Coordinator to join our HR team as part of our financial services business in Grand Cayman.

The Cayman Islands is home to our global headquarters and where the Maples Group first established operations in the 1960s. Since then we have grown to become one of the largest employers in Cayman, where colleagues from all over the world collaborate to deliver best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide. As part of our Cayman HR team you will:

 

  • Report to the HR Shared Services Manager and be responsible to deliver effective HR services and transactions in collaboration with the wider HR team
  • Create a pleasant working environment through employee relations activities, committees and communication and act as point of contact to employees;
  • Coordinate the immigration process for new joiners to the company as well as changes and extensions to existing work permits/visas
  • Track important dates in terms of permits and immigration related administration to ensure continuation of business as necessary
  • Complete necessary paper work & forms, providing the local immigration authorities with the information needed to approve the work permit request/extension, including frequent visits to local authorities.
  • Resolve issues around the approval of work permit/visa requests, by making necessary phone calls or on site visits to ensure quick resolution of issues/problems.
  • Manage the advance hurricane evaluation program on an annual basis
  • Coordinate relocation of overseas employees if required;
  • Support the joiner and leaver process, as backup to the HR coordinators supporting Cayman;
  • Respond to employee and manager questions related to Immigration & Hurricane evacuations;
  • Assisting with the generation and implementation of new ideas to improve efficiencies; and
  • Providing assistance with HR projects.

 

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

 

  • Being effective in planning and organising work, showing an ability to meet deadlines;
  • Up to date knowledge of Cayman immigration process and labour laws;
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Managing sensitive and confidential matters and protecting the security of information;
  • Interest in global immigration requirements would be an asset;
  • Attention to detail and analytically driven;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
