Alcion is hiring a

Head of Growth Marketing

Remote
Alcion is a well-funded startup working on deep technical problems in data management, software infrastructure, and SaaS. We are building beautiful products that have been designed to be very easy to use and deliver an “aha” moment to new users quickly but also have meaningful depth in their functionality.

We are currently in stealth but have ambitious plans for the near future. Growth Marketing will be critical to everything we are doing and we want to invest in it early. We’re looking for an experienced growth marketing leader to join us as our first marketing hire. The ideal candidate will have a track record of driving product-led growth for SaaS products, with a deep understanding of marketing strategies and tactics to acquire, engage, and retain customers.

About The Role

  • This is a multi-disciplinary role, reporting to the CEO and founder, that involves working closely with engineering and product management and having a strong voice in company decisions.
  • Will set and drive the marketing strategy for a Product Led Growth (PLG) SaaS product including driving the mix of marketing channels used, and reducing friction on the user and buyer journey.
  • You will be responsible for building and executing our growth strategy, with a focus on driving user adoption, engagement, and retention. This will include developing and executing marketing campaigns, analyzing customer behavior and market trends, and identifying growth opportunities.

About You

  • Have at least 4+ years of experience in growth marketing, product marketing, and/or demand generation
  • Have strong analytical skills, with experience using data to inform marketing decisions
  • Have led and grown Product-Led Growth marketing initiatives in B2B SaaS companies
  • Work independently and autonomously with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Manage budgets and marketing vendors
  • Be biased toward action, ownership, and driving things to completion
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • It would be really nice if you have:
  • Worked in early-stage companies and/or growing marketing teams from scratch
  • Experience in the software infrastructure or data management space
  • Experience with content marketing

About Us

  • Alcion is a distributed, remote-only team and currently spans multiple time zones. We try to work as asynchronously as possible but we do have many ways for the entire team to engage socially including regular virtual events (e.g., book clubs, virtual coffee chats, game “nights”) and in-person offsite.
  • We care a lot about culture and teamwork and we have documented what this means for you. Check out our company and engineering culture decks at alcion.ai to get a sense of what we value and reward.

Benefits

  • We have a great set of benefits including (US) health, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited PTO, 401(K) plans, hardware, home office, and internet allowances, stock option grants for everyone with early-exercise features, regular company offsites, and more. However, the best part of the job will involve:
  • Growth: We want you only to be limited by your skills and ambition. Alcion has the ability to accelerate your career, unlike anything you might have previously experienced. We are committed to your success!
  • Ownership and Impact: We give you independence and autonomy to figure out how to best meet your goals. We do not believe in micromanagement but do pay careful attention to results. We are a small company and you have the opportunity to make a big and externally visible impact with your work.
  • The Team: We are not only building a great product and company but also an amazing team. We care a lot about finding an amazing group of people for you to work with and giving them a great environment to get their best work done without distractions. There is a reason a number of us have been working together across multiple jobs. If you haven’t looked at them already, check out our culture slides on our website to get a sense of what to expect.

Hiring Process

We discuss real-world problems and experiences in our interviews. During the entire interview process, we save time for you to ask questions including all the hard ones lurking at the back of your mind.

We start with a 45-minute Zoom call with one of the founders. Assuming there’s a mutual fit, we run through an interview loop with 3-4 team members (45-60 minutes each). We will ask you to give a short overview about yourself and your previous work to the entire company for folks not on the interview loop and so that interviews can concentrate on richer and deeper conversations and not repeat time doing resume reviews.

Once you are done talking to everyone on your loop, we will reach back out within a week with a decision. The offer process is straightforward and can be completed quickly (within a day or two if needed).

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not tolerate discrimination in any form on the basis on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, citizenship, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
