Resource Innovations is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our growing team in Washington. As an Engineering Manager with Resource Innovations, you will be able to shape the growth of our Washington portfolio of offerings through strategic planning, business development, program design, people management, and engineering support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic development of solutions that are customized to meet client needs
  • Contribute to proposal and scope development activities in support of new opportunities across multiple utilities
  • Forges and maintains excellent client and service provider relationships to position Resource Innovations as a go-to provider of engineering services
  • Develops and reviews energy efficiency project deliverables which include: assessment reports, energy calculations and measurement & verification
  • Oversees energy audits at customer facilities to identify energy efficiency measures and electrification opportunities
  • Oversees and performs energy efficiency calculations by using spreadsheet and/or energy simulation modeling
  • Produces high quality deliverables (reports and spreadsheets) with limited QC review
  • Technical Resource Manual review and development
  • Provides the highest level of customer service, including reliability and responsiveness
  • Provides advanced technical direction to other staff; Mentors and trains junior engineers on various energy efficiency areas, including energy auditing, measurement & verification, and commissioning/retro-commissioning
  • Delegates and oversees the quality and timeliness of multiple project deliverables performed by other engineering staff
  • Maintains the highest level of quality control for deliverables (for your work and others); demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining and advancing projects
  • Assists with other initiatives as needs arise
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field of study such as mechanical engineering or electrical engineering; a Master's degree in a technical field of study is preferred in addition to Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is also preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the energy efficiency, building efficiency industries or utility program industries.
  • Have a valid U.S. driver’s license and a personal vehicle to visit WSPs, contractors, and organizations.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principles; including HVAC, lighting, motors, thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer
  • Must be able to travel regionally (in the Puget Sound Region) 10% of the time
  • Proven customer relationship skills
  • Previous energy auditing and/or retro-commissioning experience
  • Thorough and accurate with attention to detail
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, training and analytical skills
  • Proven time management ability with the ability to manage multiple projects at once while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards (e.g. IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (including Excel and Word

Experience in the following areas is a plus:

  • Design and specification of HVAC, electrical, or building automation/controls
  • Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (eg eQUEST, EnergyPro Trace)
  • Industrial systems such as compressed air, refrigeration, data centers, process heating, industrial processes, motors, boilers, pumping, food processing, lighting, and process cooling
  • Utility energy efficiency program design and implementation
  • Relationships with commercial and/or industrial companies in the Northwest
  • Relationships with electric and gas utilities in the Northwest
