Neo Cybernetica is hiring an

Electromechanical Engineer

About Us

We are a next-gen cybernetics start-up backed by a few top-tier investors (led by NEA).

Our R&D blends robotics, machine learning, and high-fidelity simulation. We aim to push the boundaries of what intelligent systems are capable of achieving both autonomously and in collaboration with humans.

Before starting Neo Cybernetica, our CEO founded the unicorn AI company DataRobot and led for almost a decade while working directly with worldwide customers across many industries.

Our organization operates at the frontier of human capabilities, working actively to advance them and meaningfully improve the state of robotics and human society at large.

About the Role

As an Electromechanical Engineer at Neo Cybernetica, your primary responsibility will be the hardware implementation of robotics for real-world “demonstrations of magic.” You will develop intelligent collaborative robotics both on the ground and in the air to embody our machine intelligence in cyber-physical systems. In close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams you will engineer the seemingly impossible through astute robotics engineering and technical leadership.

If you’re eager to make a real impact on creating the future of state-of-the-art intelligent robotics, we want you to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop robotics through the full engineering lifecycle: from rapid prototyping to product, from specs to verification and validation (V&V).
  • Collaborate with the R&D team of roboticists to prototype and demonstrate real world applications of machine intelligence systems.
  • Mechatronics: Electromechanical design and assembly of unmanned vehicles that interact with the world.
  • Lead mechatronics integration and testing (I&T) efforts.
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions, design reviews, and peer code reviews.
  • Develop robotics safety and operational best practices.
  • Use your excellent written and verbal communication skills to align teamwork.
  • Work on-site in our robotics lab in the Greater Boston area.

Your Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on mechanical engineering or mechatronics experience
  • Has shipped working systems to end users, from rapid prototyping to final system.
  • In-depth professional experience with 3D printing, maintaining 3D printers.
  • Established and documented best practices for design and development of mechanical components and mechatronics, leveraging industry standards (e.g., ASME Y14).
  • Broad familiarity with one or more of the following technology areas:
    • Controls, communications, ROS, and embedded hardware.

What Will Make You Standout

  • CAD modelling (Fusion360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience with drone assembly, parts modelling for drones
  • Experience with controlling high Degree of Freedom (DoF) robotic arms
  • Fluency with dynamics/kinematics equations.
  • Broad familiarity with one or more of the following technology areas: perception and planning
  • Experience with sensor calibration
  • Experience with fabrication of parts through external vendors

We Offer

  • High-tech environment with unique focus on Research & Development.
  • Freedom to make ground-breaking decisions.
  • Highly competitive employment terms.
  • Significant stock.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision).
  • Flexible schedule and unlimited Out of Office Plan (we encourage 4+ weeks/year)
