Grove is hiring a Director of Communications and Partnerships to lead our consumer and business public relations efforts and our partnership opportunities. This role will help shape and amplify the Grove brand story, lead the communications strategy, identify and leverage partnerships and work cross-functionally with other key teams across the company to build messaging resonance across channels.
As the Director of Communications and Partnerships, you will be a key stakeholder in the ongoing development of telling the Grove Collaborative story to the world - primarily the media. You will work directly with the CMO and CEO to set the communications strategy for Grove - including product and category launches, key business and financial news, and advocacy moments. You will own and manage the execution of the media strategy with our core consumer, IR, and celebrity agency partners. You will engage and lead our partnership opportunities including our current relationship with Drew Barrymore and celebrity outreach. Importantly, you believe in our mission and are excited to share it, as well as the story of our growing business, with the world.
Your mission: Build high-level brand awareness for Grove, while creating a deeper level of engagement and affinity with our current customers, through PR, key partnerships and bold storytelling.
YOUR ROLE & IMPACT
- Create and lead the execution of the yearly communications strategy for Grove Collaborative while ensuring objectives and key metrics of success are met
- Drive awareness and adoption of Grove Collaborative and Grove Collaborative Flagship brand, Grove Co, through strategic, press-worthy PR tactics
- Effectively communicate the Grove story and mission to the media, agencies, and all external stakeholders
- Partner with our agencies (both media and partnership) and our in-house brand teams to increase awareness and adoption of Grove owned brands with innovative PR strategies, product launches, 360 marketing campaigns, and media activations
- Create and lead execution of brand building opportunities with our brand ambassador, Drew Barrymore. Leverage Drew’s advocacy for Grove.
- Elevate Grove’s C-suite on an ongoing basis in key publications, awards, speaking opportunities, podcasts and more
- Manage all press for Grove’s CEO from a business and financial perspective, including briefing materials and media training
- Manage all incoming PR requests and brief the correct Grove spokesperson (CEO, CMO, Director of Sustainability, etc.) where needed for press opportunities
- Own the day to day management of all agency partners in order to set them up for success, including consumer, business and financial PR agency partners
- Own the management of Grove’s celebrity gifting agency, ensuring we are targeting the right celebrities and influencers each month
- Generate low-lift ideas and activations to keep Grove Collaborative and Grove Co. relevant throughout the year
- Facilitate the review and approval process of all PR materials, imagery, and creative assets

ABOUT YOU
- Self-starter with a proven track record (8-10 years) of brand communications experience as a director (either agency or in-house)
- Consumer brand PR and/or DTC consumer brand experience required
- Corporate communications experience is required
- Incredibly organized, responsive, and able to effectively manage multiple projects at once and on tight deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must
- Ability to manage multiple C-suite executives
- Passionate about mission-driven brands and storytelling
- Obsessed with staying current on the news cycle and trends within the categories you’re working on
- You embody a multitasker/collaborator/entrepreneur all in one!
- Basic understanding of the eCommerce space and web traffic metrics

- Compensation includes a base salary between $195,000 - $210,000 plus equity
