About You

You love problems. The bigger, the better. Why? Because that’s when you get to do your best work—creating solutions. You love to build and fix, and you live for puzzles.  You’re comfortable working with a team and are good at explaining your process to people who aren’t as familiar with technical concepts. Technical concepts you know in and out. 

Your background is in Javascript, HTML and CSS, but this is just scratching the surface on what you’re really capable of. You have a knack for picking up software, learning new code, and connecting APIs. Let’s not forget that you’re super creative and not afraid to build something brand new. Which is crucial, because you’ll be the very first Developer of Custom Solutions at Swoogo.

The Position

Bringing people together through events & making our customers happy is core to every position at Swoogo.  The Developer - Custom Solutions will play an essential role as an architect for bespoke customer projects.  Clients want software to match their workflow requirements, and not the other way around.  This is where you come in.  You will work with our largest clients and help architect custom solutions that integrate Swoogo software, frontend / backend requirements, and custom workflows.  

You Will 

• Become an expert in all things Swoogo APIs - our extensibility as a platform is our greatest asset, and you will become our resident expert in the art of the possible
• Design & build custom solutions that make event professionals smile
• Review front-end & back-end code; apply best practices to ensure quality control
• Keep up to-date with cutting edge techniques for architecting frontend & backend design
• Maintain expertise in Swoogo’s event management platform; learn other platforms as necessary 
• Scope projects with customers by gathering requirements and setting expectations
• Plan, organize and execute development projects on time and within budget
• Prioritize and keep track of the overall project calendar
• Write scripts from scratch while explaining how code works to a non-technical audience
• Build for the responsive web and all the quirks that come with it
• Lead the charge on developing custom solutions that help make Swoogo shine with top customers

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of experience with all stages of the development cycle for dynamic web projects
• Creative & responsive design with expertise in JavaScript, CSS/CSS3 and HTML/HTML5
• Experience with PHP
• Methodology for scripting, coding & documentation
• Track record with complex troubleshooting
• Previous experience in a customer facing development role
• Ability to test and debug websites + custom configurations that blend software, APIs and custom code
• Proven track record driving complex projects to timely completion for high-profile customers

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in TWIG, JQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap, Adobe Creative Suite, iPaaS
• Previous experience working in the Event space
