ABOUT THE POSITION

Enhance the Marketing Operations Data & Integration team’s ability to enable non-technical marketers to independently create a wider variety of email audiences, by gaining understanding of the data available in the data lake and designing logic and repositories that can feed a UI (to be implemented by the team’s engineers).
Write queries to create email audiences based on marketers’ criteria, when those criteria are not yet served by existing self-serve tools.

Able to use SQL to query large data sets (100 million + rows). Good if familiar with any SQL flavor and able to independently read documentation. (Client uses Presto/Trino SQL.)

Strong in set logic concepts: Knows the effects of choosing different kinds of joins, parenthesis placement

Able to independently understand a lot about data tables with little to no documentation and no integrity constraints, by using SQL to profile the data and determine unique identifiers, relationships, etc.

Able to write (and knows when to use) case statements and window functions. Array functions and lamda functions are also occasionally helpful.

Proactive and resourceful. Takes initiative to reach out for information, collaborative input, and access, but does not require exact instructions to perform work.

Familiar with analytic database concepts, like why denormalized tables are sometimes preferable to 3NF.

Able to document own or others’ work with comments or diagrams.

Able to courteously communicate about request prioritization to competing stakeholders, and to coordinate harmoniously with a team.

Able to work with a variety of people and translate their business requests into queries.

Has sense of urgency balanced by desire to deliver high-quality results.

Will be using G-Suite (mostly Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Gmail, with access to Colaboratory, Data Studio, Forms, Slides).

Knowledge of Marketo, Salesforce, Jira, Asana, or Confluence is helpful but not required.
- Partner with business/domain experts to understand the questions they have on their data
- Leverage modern BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc) to extract and manipulate data from a variety of diverse sources
- Perform analysis on datasets to understand data structure and possible metrics/visuals to answer business questions
- Present alternative ways for clients to visualize and consume their data
- Work as part of a larger visual analytics team partaking in collaboration and assisting others when needed
- Research advanced analytics/visualization capabilities to improve client understanding of data insights

Salary Range: We are committed to equitable and fair pay practices. For this role, the base salary pay range is $90,000 - $120,000 a year. We consider a variety of factors when making compensation decisions and generally do not hire employees at the highest point of the pay range. We share this to ensure transparency, expectation-setting and education for candidates considering opportunities with us.
