Emulate is currently seeking a highly self-motivated, detail-oriented Controller with a proven technical accounting background. As a Controller, you will oversee all aspects of general ledger operations, the financial close, accounting policies and the related controls framework, and payroll for all global entities. Critical to success will be the ability to partner with Finance and cross-functional leaders to drive change, build efficiencies, and enable rapid growth for our organization. You are CURIOUS and will:

  • Identify and recommend modifications to keep pace with changing business conditions
  • Propose and spearhead the implementation of new relevant business systems as needed

You are RELENTLESS and will:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Emulate’s business systems (e.g., NetSuite, Coupa, Carta, Salesforce, )
  • Remain current on new accounting pronouncements, draft technical accounting position memos, and develop practical processes to ensure compliance

You are ACCOUNTABLE and will:

  • Drive all accounting operations including, but not limited to, A/P, A/R, invoicing, general ledger, payroll, and procurement
  • Manage the financial close process, including preparation of monthly account reconciliations, performance of corresponding analyses, and posting of all required journal entries
  • Run all financial reporting and data activities
  • Prepare financial reports, tailored to the various stakeholders as required, both internal and external
  • Perform treasury functions globally, including monitoring all cash activity and preparing bank reconciliations
  • Oversee the annual financial statement audits
  • Assist with tax compliance efforts

You are HUMAN and will:

  • Provide ongoing leadership of, and mentorship to, members of the Accounting Team

You are ONE and will:

  • Partner with stakeholders cross-functionally to strengthen financial oversight processes
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting and data requests from key stakeholders
  • Assist with the AOP and periodic forecasting processes
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer in the execution of the Company’s financial strategy

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
  • 10+ years of related work experience (i.e., Big 4, mid-sized biotech companies)
  • Active CPA license and in good standing
  • Proven financial analysis capabilities, especially in the area of gross margin analysis
  • Demonstrated analytical and technical accounting skills (i.e., ability to think critically about the impact of accounting transactions and technical GAAP skills)
  • Proven adeptness at detailed work such as the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts, and the portrayal of clear and concise summary-level work (i.e., ability to get “into the weeds” as needed while not losing sight of the broader picture)
  • Superior written and oral communications skills, including ability to succinctly communicate complex messaging in a credible and clear manner
  • Ability to self-direct work and manage time accordingly
  • Experience with guiding a small team of direct reports
  • Experience with the NetSuite platform, including multi-entity consolidations
  • Excel proficiency a must
