The Role
Carbon Direct is looking for a highly organized and proactive Chief of Staff (COS) to work directly for our CEO.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in complex, matrixed organizations. The COS will have a strategic view of the organization, and work effectively with the CEO and other leaders to drive our business forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the effectiveness of the CEO, including preparation for important internal and external meetings (examples: all hands, Board and investor meetings). 
  • Collaborate with CEO’s Executive Assistant to anticipate, create, and facilitate the rhythm of the business for the CEO.
  • Attend key meetings on behalf of the CEO and track key takeaways and actions.
  • Support CEO’s prioritization, calling out urgent matters to help enable the team to effectively focus on the mission, goals, and priorities of the organization.
  • Support ad-hoc initiatives and projects, such as the company’s annual offsite.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in complex organizations, with a track record of successfully managing multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to synthesize actions, prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; the ability to structure ideas into actionable plans

Location preference:
For this role, we strongly prefer candidates in the New York metro area who can work from our State St. office several days per week.
