CampusWorks is a professional services consultancy dedicated to transforming higher education through thoughtful sustainable, outcomes-based services delivered by exceptionally skilled professionals. We are growing at more than 50% year over year and seek an innovative CFO with experience supporting the same. The successful candidate will partner with the Leadership Team in bringing competitive solutions to our clients, maintaining award-winning employee satisfaction, and overachieving industry benchmarks. We have solid financials and a track record of success. We are privately held and choose to remain so. 

Our CFO has responsibility for all aspects of financial planning, management, contracting, pricing and risk assessment and remediation. In addition, the CFO is a key member of the Executive Team requiring an ability to contribute to deal structure, compensation modeling, and pricing decisions. Further, the CFO manages the Director of Information Technology who supports our team in our fully virtual work environment. The potential CFO should expect to become fully immersed in all aspects of the business and to gain a strong understanding of the markets we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Be an innovative and creative, thought leadership partner in the business by supporting the organization’s growth and development while achieving our financial goals and maintaining superior client and employee satisfaction. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Leadership Team that create opportunities for deep engagement and grow the role CFO to trusted advisor status.  
  • Provide financial leadership and align business and finance strategy, keeping actions and decisions in harmony with the company’s overall goals. 
  • Oversee the annual budget development process with the Leadership Team and monitor performance versus budget for all services and operations. 
  • Look beyond the traditional boundaries of the finance function and collaborate within the organization to develop data-driven and insight-driven strategies that create sustainable growth and long-term value and reduce surprises.  
  • Participate in strategic planning around new lines of business and services that will expand the organization’s reach and address shifting or growing market needs. Support these efforts through financial modeling. 
  • Develop financial models and proformas to support all aspects of the business
    current and future
    including managed services, service development, staffing, etc.  
  • Devote less time recording and verifying the numbers, and more time making the data connections and explaining the number implications. 
  • Develop and operate efficient and effective contracting and finance processes. 
  • Oversee the current/ongoing implementation of enterprise systems to support our growing business including finance, professional services automation, and talent management and HR systems, and related processes. 
  • Reduce costs, improve processes and innovate the company in ways that add value and stability. 
  • Protect corporate assets, ensure compliance with financial regulations, reconcile the books accurately, and disseminate value and risk areas to the Executive Team. 
  • Monitor and evaluate accounting operations to ensure timely, accurate, and effective financial statements. 
  • Develop and monitor performance measures that support the company's strategic directions. 
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile, including monitoring legal issues and financial practices involving the company, professional services, and higher education. 
  • Partner with outside legal counsel as needed. 
  • Model leadership behaviors that ensure equitable experiences, strengthen inclusion, and promote a culture of belonging that embraces the contributions of all CampusWorks team members. 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration 
  • 10+ Years of Experience with a rapidly emerging, innovation-driven company that’s experienced a high level of growth.  
  • High level of written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional and/or managed services organization experience 
  • Knowledge of the higher education sector 
  • M&A experience
