Associate Creative Director (Remote, US)

Reporting to and closely partnering with the Head of Marketing, the Associate Creative Director will be responsible for helping build the Koala Health brand strategy, developing a strong in-house and freelance creative team, and creating industry-leading campaigns and marketing content across all consumer touch points. 

This position will focus on conceptualizing and executing integrated campaigns inclusive of concept development, art direction, and digital design across channels including email marketing, paid media, and organic social. The right candidate has passion for creative that seamlessly solves marketing and brand objectives. Strong leadership, presentation, collaboration, and cross-functional partnership skills are required to successfully deliver results in this role.

What You'll Do:

  • Own work through the lifecycle of a creative project—concept, development, refinement, execution– for all marketing and brand channels. 
  • Develop and evolve our brand guardrails and guidelines, and ensure execution against guidelines to ensure consistent experiences throughout the customer journey.
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing and other leadership team members to strategize and develop the visual direction for 360-marketing, brand moments, and seasonal/evergreen campaigns.
  • Lead production planning to support Koala’s ongoing content creation needs inclusive of social, blog, and on-site experiences for new and existing customersCollaborate closely with internal/external creative partners and cross-functional teams to realize campaigns and ensure aligned solutions.
  • Provide strategic and creative feedback and lead creative brainstorms and concepting.
  • Set clear roles, responsibilities and expectations on projects to ensure that the team’s output and marketing requirements are brand appropriate, timely and of the highest quality for internal/external reviews.
  • Manage the creative approval process and effectively communicate visual direction decisions to internal/external teams and cross-functional partners.

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years art direction / design / creative experience, in-house or at an agency.
  • 3+ years leading integrated campaigns that boost revenue and build brand love. 
  • 2+ years of experience hiring and managing a team of designers and junior art directors, as well as experience managing contractors and freelancers across art and copy disciplines. 
  • Experience in lifestyle brands and DTC/e-commerce is highly preferred (wellness, CPG, pharma, or pet care a plus). 
  • A portfolio that shows clear command of concepting and execution of 360-degree campaigns across brand and marketing channels. Please attach your portfolio when you submit your application.
  • Experience concepting and directing video, digital storytelling.
  • Passion for emerging formats, trends in social media, understanding of e-commerce landscape and performance drivers.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and hands-on experience with creative best practices for relevant digital marketing and e-commerce formats. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication and analytical/qualitative skills. 
  • BA degree or equivalent experience.

  • A self-starter and a hands-on creative with an exceptional eye for great content and design.
  • Able to brainstorm and develop creative concepts that combine branding and commerce and execute these creative ideas from start to finish.
  • Comfortable navigating through ambiguity and complex problems in pursuit of simplicity and concrete outcomes.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects at once and appropriately prioritize and delegate while remaining accountable for the success of the team.
  • Flexible with switching between styles and skillsets, easily moving from strategy to execution throughout the day. 
  • Happiest building the plane while flying. You’ve probably seen a startup or two, but you also know what scale looks like.
