Assembly/Integration/Test Engineer

Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Looking for motivated and organized individual to join an existing integrated engineering team to help build new instrumentation hardware. Proficient in the assembly of mechanical and electrical subsystems and integrating them into a larger system. Must have experience in reading mechanical and electrical assembly drawings and have an understanding of configuration management. Have the ability to generate and refine documentation such as process instruction, block diagrams, and bill of materials. Ability to perform electrical characterization of components and integrated assemblies. Support and help organize laboratory inventory/procurement. The ability to support maintenance of lab instrumentation.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED
• Experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment involving assembly, integration, test, and troubleshooting
• Experience following formal and informal assembly and integration processes
• Experience with microelectronic assembly and printed circuit board design/assembly (e.g. soldering). 
• Familiarity with RF design practices (e.g. controlled impedance transmission lines, crosstalk minimization, signal integrity, power integrity, electromagnetic simulations), thermal/mechanical design considerations, and/or 3D CAD design tools (e.g. Solidworks) would be a plus
• Use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ability to create and communicate using charts is necessary

KNOWLEDGE DESIRED
• Understanding and application of basic electrical and mechanical engineering concepts
• Knowledge of electronic and mechanical components, specifications, and tolerances including GD&T
• Must be able to read, generate, and understand engineering drawings, bills of material, schematic diagrams, assembly/process instructions, and terminology
• Understanding of configuration management and inventory control is desired

EDUCATION DESIRED
Bachelors or Associates degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related discipline. Preferably someone with 5+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical assembly of complex systems. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
• Excellent problem-solving skills with good mechanical aptitude and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work well in a creative team environment, possess excellent communication skills, and have willingness to train / mentor others
• Must be able to perform tasks safely in a lab environment and be able to climb and work on ladders and/or scaffolding
• Ability to lift and move small to moderate sized test equipment
• Ability to work effectively with others and individually
• Must be sufficiently mobile to work within confined spaces and have both visual and hearing acuity.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
 • U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Active SSBI is a plus.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $73,000 - $120,000 + bonus + benefits.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
