The Regional APAC Region Chief Financial Officer will report to Fluence Corporate Chief Financial Officer and will serve as a true business and strategic partner to the Regional APAC President and the leadership team.
 
The Regional APAC Financial Officer will be directly responsible for driving and assessing financial results, delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, providing a controlled and compliant environment, ensuring optimal cash management, and in partnership with the President, APAC, managing all regional capital markets activities to include APAC region equity and debt raises and investor engagement.
Importantly, the Regional APAC Financial Officer will look to continually optimize areas of growth and lead with a strategic mindset. The Regional APAC Financial Officer is responsible for quantifying risks and articulating the financial implications of those risks to the CFO and the APAC leadership team. This person will also oversee strategic planning, forecast modeling and analysis and lead aspects of the regional M&A process and corporate and project-level financings.

Lastly, the Regional APAC Financial Officer will be responsible for increasing the region’s ability to anticipate critical business issues and will be expected to weigh in on several different areas of the organization. The Regional APAC Financial Officer will be comfortable leading from the ground level and have a pulse on all business activities. They will demonstrate a collaborative management style and consistently provide responsive communication to business leadership regarding all areas of the finance function.

As the APAC Region Chief Financial Officer at Fluence, you will:

  • Complete P&L and balance sheet ownership of the APAC region.
  • Plan, develop, direct, and evaluate the APAC regional’s fiscal function and performance.
  • Serve as an advisor to the President, APAC and the executive leadership team regarding all regional fiscal matters of the company.
  • Participate in the analysis and implementation of the regional’s strategic plans and manage relationships with strategic partners.
  • Structure, develop, and lead a best-in-class regional finance team.
  • Represent the region with investment bankers, investors, and analysts and potential direct shareholder engagement outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of debt and equity markets, and plan for and provide adequate liquidity for the company.
  • Oversee banking relationships and lead the financing required to support operations and growth initiatives.
  • Manage the capital structure to provide adequate capital, maximize cash flow and minimize financial risk.
  • Recommend benchmarks to measure the financial and operating performance of the company and its departments.
  • Direct preparation of budgets, financial forecasting and financial modeling.
  • Develop and implement a financial planning and analysis capability and install financial processes and systems to provide the leadership team the proper actionable data with which to make effective decisions.
  • Establish rigor around and a focus on business analysis, metrics and KPIs, accountability and continuous improvement to accelerate growth and improve financial and operational performance.
  • Optimize handling of bank and deposit relationships and/or working capital credit lines and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  • Manage cash flow projection process and reporting to meet operating needs.
  • Evaluate and support execution of M&A opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary, accounting, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Advise on contracts, into which the company may enter, from a financial and business perspective.
  • Oversee and manage preparation and reviews of all regulatory tax reporting requirements.

What will you bring to Fluence?

  • More than 15 years of broad financial leadership, having served as a Regional Financial Officer or served in a divisional/segment CFO capacity in APAC while also having corporate finance experience. Standalone CFO experience will be a distinct plus.
  • Several years of management experiences in APAC, understanding the unique cultural nuances of multiple Asian countries
  • Broad financial leadership experience including access to capital markets, IR, accounting, treasury, regulatory reporting, tax, FP&A, risk and M&A. Experience as regional CFO of a company is necessary (publicly traded company preferred), this can also be achieved via a combination of private company CFO and public company finance roles. Experience in financial roles of relevance within a publicly traded company is required.
  • Experience partnering or interacting with an executive leadership team, a board of directors, and shareholders of a public company. Can establish credibility with the CEO/Board and senior management team as a highly competent, intelligent, trusted and thoughtfully effective leader who can make immediate impact.
  • Deep capital markets experience, having led or directly contributed to corporate and project financings, including equity and debt raises and investor engagement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change in a comparable size business with intensity to accelerate the pace of change, while not becoming reckless or alienating the organization.
  • Diversified industry experience across relevant infrastructure classes and technology driven companies covering a range of products and services.  Experience within or exposure to clean energy is desirable.
  • Track record within an organization serving as a key member in driving significant business expansion, organizational development, and growth. Experience scaling a company / business product from the ground up.  Has led in a culture where agility is key, while establishing necessary metrics and processes. Scaled an organization in support of growth.
  • Demonstrates strong commercial instincts and ensures structure and accountabilities are aligned with drivers and desired outcomes of the business. 
  • Experience leading strategy and implementation of business and revenue growth through M&A, organic growth and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong business partner with analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model, analyzing data to drive financial and operational improvements across an enterprise.
  • Proven ability to recruit, assess, develop, motivate, and retain top finance and accounting talent.
