The Opportunity

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant, Finance to join our financial services business in Luxembourg.

As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Luxembourg office opened its doors in 2007. Located in Cloche d'Or, a commitment to service excellence and investment in our people quickly established Luxembourg as a regional hub where our 80+ teammates deliver the best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide alongside our Maples and Calder (legal services) colleagues

 

As part of our Luxembourg team you will be performing below key duties:

Key duties:

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager with the smooth running of the office working with all levels of management and, where applicable, the Chief Financial Officer.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Coding, entering and processing all accounts payable and coordinating payments to vendors and/or, where applicable, coordinating with the shared services centre;
  • Monitoring group inbox and responding to queries in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Entering all incoming cash receipts into the system and allocating accordingly and/or, where applicable, coordinating with the shared services centre;
  • Liaising with banks on any transaction queries;
  • Liaising with vendors where necessary on invoice queries;
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis;
  • Assisting with WIP, matter credit and accounts receivable clean-ups:
  • Preparing non-routine analysis of specific accounts as requested;
  • Assisting with preparing audit requests from the external and internal auditors;
  • Filing and scanning of accounts payable, cash receipts and bill edits;
  • Assisting the Senior Financial Accountant with compiling information necessary for monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements;
  • Assisting with any tasks including reception and operation as required to ensure the smooth running of the office;
  • Ad-hoc projects, including reporting, as required.

Requirements:

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Fluent in English;
  • French language would be an asset;
  • Degree in finance, economics, accounting or other relevant field;
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient with using computers and MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently when required
